Dear Adult Children,

We are about to relaunch our “ComLine” newsletter.
ACA’s message of hope, strength, and recovery is experienced by adult
children around the world. The first new ComLine will focus on Steps 4, 5, 6 and Traditions 4, 5, 6.

We extend a special invitation to you:

Please share your recovery experience in your own language.
Selected shares will be published as you write them–not translated
into English.

All shares will be considered, and each adult child who contributes a
share will receive a complementary digital issue of our re-launched
newsletter.

This new issue will be released in April, 2015.

Please email your shares by March 1, 2015 with a copy of the release form to litstaff@adultchildren.org.

Yours in service,

ACA WSO ComLine Committee

To Members of the ACA Fellowship:

By now you should have received the Ballot with the Proposals that were received for consideration at the 2015 ACA Annual Business Conference (ABC.) If not, please see the www.adultchildren.org website.

We encourage every meeting or Intergroup to send at least one person to this year’s ABC, if possible. Although only one person may be the official voting delegate from a meeting or Intergroup, all attendees will participate in the dialog. Anyone planning to attend should fill out the Registration Form using the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TT8N76W

The registration deadline is April 12, 2015. For further questions about the ABC, please contact the ABC Committee at abc@adultchildren.org.

The Dates:

April 24th and 25th from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Host Committee:

The Lone Star Intergroup

The Location:

St. David’s Episcopal Church

304 E. 7th St.

Austin, Texas

Hotels:

At this time we do not have any recommendations for hotels because St. David’s is near Downtown Austin where hotels are more expensive. Attendees may have better luck finding reasonably priced hotels through discount travel sites. If additional information becomes available, it will be posted on the website.

Yours in Recovery,

The 2015 ABC Committee

“Finding Our Souls”
The soul is the deepest aspect of our being, a calm center. Through meditation practice, we can take refuge in our soul no matter what problems we struggle with. No matter how turbulent or chaotic our lives may be, we can discover an inner calm to work with life as it is. In our time together, we will discover how we can connect with the quiet stillness within us.

This is a free event through Hazelden. This is a general 12-step series, not ACA-specific. ACA is not affiliated with Hazelden or any other specific recovery center.

The Laundry Lists and Their Flip Sides

At the 2014 ABC, the Literature Committee distributed an early draft this document. It has subsequently been reviewed and approved by the WSO board for consideration by the fellowship. Click here to download a copy [ http://www.adultchildren.org/lit/4x4_content_first_review_v1a.pdf ]for review. The Literature Committee further requests comments from the fellowship’s meetings and InterGroups. Please submit these comments to the WSO Literature Committee using the Contact Us web page. [ http://www.adultchildren.org/contact/ ] The Literature Committee intends to present the final version at the 2015 ABC for approval.

We encourage your groups to review this document, forwarding your comments as indicated. The Literature Committee plans to close the comment period on February 22, 2015.

For your reference, general literature selection guidance is discussed on pp.611-613 of the Fellowship Text.

The literature approval process is described on pp.18-21 of the Operating Policies and Procedures Manual at http://repository.adultchildren.org/images/organizational/OPPM.pdf

Reminder!

This Saturday, February 14, is the next ACA WSO Board teleconference. The minutes from last month and many of the reports for this month are already posted on the repository for review.

This is an invitation to all ACA fellowship members who are interested in what is happening with the World Service Organization. This is the board committee that makes all kinds of things happen with YOUR help, input and 7th tradition contributions, plus income from our literature. It is our intention to be as transparent as we can be so that all may know the process and procedures for our actions.

The meeting is held on the second Saturday of the month at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time USA.

A new ACA step meeting will open this Saturday.

Saturday 12:30-1:25 – Gentle Steps for Adult Children – Alano Club, 909 NW 24th (at Kearney), Portland, 2nd Fl, SE room, Step Study Meeting.

Dear ACA Group,

Through November 15, 2014 each meeting and Intergroup had the opportunity to submit proposals for consideration at the 2015 Annual Business Conference (ABC); 14 proposals were received. It is now time for the Ballot process.

For the first time the Ballot has been translated from English into Russian. Copies of the proposals in both languages are available on the www.adultchildren.org website. Look for either the section that says 2015 Annual Business Conference or click on the Repository and find the 2015 ABC.

After you download the one that’s right for your group, please discuss the proposals to gain a group consensus on each one.

Your group is being asked if they agree or disagree with each proposal. They may also abstain from voting on any particular items. When that is done, you can access and complete the appropriate Ballot for your language using the information below. There will also be room for optional comments if you choose to add them, based on the group’s discussion.

Your completed Ballot will help determine the agenda of the 2015 ABC. The proposals that receive a two-thirds majority vote of agreement by all of the groups that vote will then be included on the agenda for discussion at the ABC.

You will have until March 22, 2015 to submit your group’s ballot.

The following are the instructions for the Ballot:

1. Choose your language and copy and paste the link on your computer:

a. English: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VV373QT

b. Russian: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VVJ6C7G

2. Fill in the Ballot per the instructions indicated.

3. You have received the ballot earlier than last year, so the due date is earlier. This will give those who put the Delegate packets together more time to prepare.

The 2015 ABC will be held April 24-26, 2015 in Austin, Texas. Registration information for the ABC will be available soon.

If you have any questions about the Ballot process, please send a reply to this email.

Yours in Service,

The 2015 ABC Committee

February 3
Buster Ross, MA, CADC II, LPC, Addictions Counselor, Hazelden in Springbrook
The Intimacy of the Twelve Steps
Each one of the Twelve Steps is focused on some aspect of relationship–be it self, God/Higher Power, or others. Emerging research has begun to show how love and the neurotransmitter systems involved in its mysterious processes can reduce withdrawal symptoms and potentially prevent the development of addiction (in rats!). Come join Buster Ross for a discussion on how intimacy can be effortlessly expanded in recovery, even when we are feeling stuck, are single, or are intentionally staying out of romantic relationships in early recovery.
